‘Sussexes are under pressure!’ Harry and Meghan ‘scrambling’ to rescue Netflix deal as axe looms

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been accused of “scrambling” to rescue their £80 million deal with Netflix.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed an £80 million deal with the streaming platform in 2020 as their Archewell Productions firm joined forces with Netflix and Spotify.

Last year, their deal with Spotify dramatically collapsed and there are reports their £80 million contract with Netflix won’t be renewed in 2025 due to a lack of content.

Showbiz reporter Stephanie Takyi explained that Meghan and Harry are a “couple under pressure” as they “scramble” to rescue the deal.

Harry and Meghan signed a deal with Netflix

Takyi said: “They are very much a couple under pressure with Netflix.

“This week the Chief Content Officer of Netflix, Bella Bajra came out during a Q&A and said Harry and Meghan are working on a ton of projects for Netflix and they’re quite excited about what they’ve got coming up.

“For a while, Meghan during her public appearances has been teasing us that she and Harry are working on a few projects which she’s excited about.

“The reason why they are such under pressure is because we’ve seen the deal go badly with Spotify.

“All the public tends to be interested in is when they talk about the Royals, which they said they are no longer going to do.

“So now they’re going to be coming out with this documentary.

“They’ve secured the film rights for a book called Meet Me at the Lake by Carly Fortune, which is said to be a romantic film and it will be produced by their production company Archwell.

“The problem with Harry and Meghan at the moment is that the deal they’ve got with Netflix is only a five-year deal.

They are “scrambling” to get new content out

“So they’ve only got till 2025 to produce as much content as they can for Netflix.

“They were delayed by the Hollywood strike. So, this is why they’re under pressure.”

“They’ve got about a year to produce all this good content and they’ve been paid £18 million.

“They need to justify that this content is going to be able to connect with the audience at home. The problem is, when it comes to Harry and Megan, they’re like Marmite, you either love or hate them.”
