MasterChef returned to screens this week, with TV chefs John Torode and Gregg Wallace fronting a new edition of the competition.

The duo are celebrating the cooking show’s milestone 20th series, and have reflected on whether or not the occasion will see them putting an end to the show anytime soon.

Torode, 58 and Wallace, 59, debuted on the show back in 2005 with MasterChef’s relaunch, and have been back every series since to offer their tips and feedback to contestants.

Luckily for fans, neither of the cooking gurus are ready to leave the signature kitchen behind them yet.

On the subject, Torode joked: “Who would we leave it to? Don’t be ridiculous. That’s too much responsibility for anybody – to take over from me and him, there’s no way in the world.”

Speaking to Bella magazine, he added: “Where are you going to find two attractive people, one with hair, the other without, anywhere like that? There’s no way!”

The new series of MasterChef began this week

“I think to get me out of place, they’re going to have to push me out the door or blend my food to get me to taste it. That’s when I’ll be leaving,” he revealed.

Wallace was in agreement with his co-star, pointing out the pair’s close bond which has come from decades of working together.

The latest episode on Wednesday left viewers divided though, with the judges’ comments deemed “inconsistent”.

Some fans of the show were baffled to notice the duo gave conflicting comments in their feedback to the contestants.

One of the hopefuls had to leave though and sadly Peter, 49, was given the boot after almost “poisoning” the chefs.

While cooking some carrots, the aspiring cook accidentally coated the vegetables in salt rather than sugar.

Mortified by his blunder, Peter later admitted: “Nerves really got the better of me with that dish there.”

He wasn’t surprised when he was the one sent home, adding: “I feel disappointed I can’t hide that. I nearly poisoned John and Gregg with salt rather than sugar.”

Peter was eliminated in the latest episode

Fans were sympathetic over the error, taking to social media to brand Peter’s experience “a nightmare”.

With the show having to filter a single winner out of 58 hopefuls, the brutal eliminations will be coming in thick and fast.

Thankfully fort fans, it seems the two judges have no plans to make an exit in the near future.
