Frida Maanum didn’t need to go to hospital and travelled home with her Arsenal team-mates after collapsing in their Continental Cup final victory over Chelsea on Sunday.

Play was stopped for seven minutes when the Norwegian went down off the ball in the 95th minute of the showdown.

Arsenal later confirmed Maanum was ‘stable’ after she received medical treatment prior to being taken off on a stretcher.

“Frida is conscious, talking and in a stable condition,” they said in a statement.

“She will continue to be monitored closely by our medical team. We’re all with you, Frida.”

And the BBC say Maanum didn’t need to go to hospital and returned home with the rest of her Arsenal team-mates following the clash.

Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall admitted after the fixture that the midfielder was well enough to talk with him following the showdown.

“I have been able to have a conversation with her but not on a medical perspective,” said the Swede.

“I just checked in with her, how she is doing and telling her that we won and understanding a little bit about the next steps, but I don’t have any medical update.

And Eidevall also admitted the incident was ‘very scary’ for the club, who were then ‘determined to make her a champion’.

“Immediately after the game, we don’t care about winning, we care about Frida – that is most important,” he added.

“But there was nothing we could do to control that situation, we can concentrate on football, and we wanted to make Frida a champion.”

Arsenal star Alessia Russo also discussed the incident.

And the former Manchester United striker was glad Maanum’s ‘best friend’ Stina Blackstenius netted the winning goal in the 116th minute.

“It’s devastating to see one of your team-mates go down like that. We’re all wishing and praying that she’s OK,” she said.

“I think it was written in the stars that her best mate went and scored the winner for her.

“Frida is a massive player and plays with every bit of her body. She did that today. We just hope she’s OK.”

Meanwhile, after the game, Chelsea boss Emma Hayes sparked controversy by pushing Eidevaal.

She proceeded to slam ‘male aggression’ following her side’s defeat, explaining her actions by saying: “I’m not down for male aggression on the touchline.

“For me that’s unacceptable and, yeah, I was disappointed and I told Jonas that.

“I don’t think it’s okay to behave like that.”

Yet the Arsenal boss has disputed Hayes’ comments by saying: “I think that’s a very irresponsible way of labelling the behaviour that I have, I don’t feel comfortable with that label, I don’t think it’s the truth to do that, so I think it’s very irresponsible to do that.”

He added: “I think there is definitely a way you behave in the technical area, there is also a way you behave after the game, being a good winner, but you also need to be a good loser and be responsible in both those situations.

“I’m happy with the way I conduct myself and others need to look in the mirror and see if they’re happy with themselves.”
