A woman has shared her heartbreaking story of her grandson who was stabbed to death after actor Idris Elba called for a ban on “zombie knives.”

Liam Taylor, 19, was stabbed outside the Rose and Crown pub in Writtle, on 31 January 2020.

Speaking to GB News today his grandmother Julie Taylor said: “Liam had been to work, a normal 19-year-old lad and he decided to go with his best friend and have a drink.

“Four individuals that were known to police and were known knife carriers [stabbed him].

“This is where our laws have got to be fixed up. We’ve got these laws that say four years for carrying a knife. So let’s use them.

“Let’s not keep letting them off saying there’s no space in prisons, just give them a chance to rehabilitate and things. These people are using knives and they are proven to end up killing people.

“Liam was attacked in 39 seconds he had six outbounds, two for his heart, two for his lower back, and his archery on his arm.

“28 separate injuries in a 13-second attack by 4 individuals. It’s just heartbreaking. And every story you hear seems worse than the last.

“They’re all just terrifying it doesn’t matter if there’s one stab wound or 100 stab wounds.

“These children are still being murdered on our streets”

She added: “It was Liam’s mum that phoned me and she was just screaming and screaming down the phone. He’s dead. He’s dead. He’s been stabbed. They’ve killed him.

“And you just hope in your heart that it’s not true. You’re in such shock for the first few months, even a year or so. We’re now four years at the end of this month and every year it’s got worse, it’s not got easier.

“It’s not the first Christmas, the 1st anniversary, or the first birthday, you’re missing.

“It is the rest of their life. They’re dead. They’re never coming home.”

It comes as actor Idris Elba has called on the Government to immediately ban the sale of so-called “zombie” knives and machetes, to reduce the number of young people losing their lives.

As reported by the BBC, he accused politicians of not giving the issue “the focus it deserves”.

The government said it remains “committed to further intervention measures”.
