Watch the crazy moment a GB News viewer is swept up by extreme winds in Guernsey as she reports from the coast.

Joining Nana Akua on the People’s Channel was Jess Mauger, who decided to give fellow GB News fans a taste of what people in Guernsey are experiencing as Storm Darragh grips parts of Britain.

She warned the “worst” conditions were expected at 7pm, adding the winds are “really battering the island”.

“I’m very cut off at the moment. We’re very exposed in Guernsey. The storm is so bad I can’t stand up.

“I’m very glad it will just be passing through. We’ve had a few trees down and the boats have been cancelled. Being from an island like this, it’s difficult.

“The only way to get to us by sea or air.”

Flights to the Channel Islands were cancelled with Guernsey Police saying the forecast had marginally worsened overnight.

They said the bailiwick would experience at least 75mph (121 km/h) gusts of wind this afternoon – a total not as extreme as what Storm Ciaran brought last year.

All but two flights from Jersey Airport have been cancelled, with most incoming also affected, while all passenger flights to and from Guernsey have been cancelled after 11.30 GMT.

Many parts of the UK are feeling the effects of the storm with winds reaching 93mph in Capel Curig, North Wales, as thousands of homes were left without power.

The Energy Networks Association reported approximately 86,000 homes across England, Scotland and Wales were without power as of 9am.

The Met Office issued a rare red weather warning for parts of Wales and south-west England, signalling a “danger to life” from flying debris and falling trees.

Major transport routes have been severely disrupted, with both the Prince of Wales Bridge and Severn Bridge closed due to strong winds.

Network Rail Wales suspended all train services west of Cardiff until further notice due to fallen trees.

Several British Airways flights to and from Heathrow, Paris, the United States and the Netherlands were cancelled.
