Urgent SEVERE ‘danger to life’ notices issued as Storm Henk claims first victim

An urgent flood warning has been issued as Storm Henk continues to wreak havoc across the United Kingdom.

Storm Henk claimed its first victim yesterday after a tree fell on a car near Malmesbury in Wiltshire.


Two vehicles were involved in the incident, with one car crushed and the other sustaining minor damage.

However, London Fire Brigade confirmed it has responded to more than 30 incidents in connection with Storm Henk.

Flood warnings and alerts are threatening to cause further chaos, with more than 700 issued across Britain.

England faces one severe flood warning where experts claim there is a danger to life, the Environment Agency has said.

The severe warning has been issued for River Nene at Billing Aquadrome and nearby business parks.

The warning said: “This is a severe flood warning for the Billing Aquadrome and nearby business parks.

“This warning has been issued due to deep and fast flowing water and a rapid onset of flooding.

“This means there is danger to life and you must act now. Call 999 if in immediate danger, follow advice from emergency services, keep yourself and your family safe. Severe flooding is expected imminently.

“Water levels are continuing to rise on the River Nene at Billing Aquadrome and nearby business parks, the water may be deep and fast flowing. Please evacuate the area.”

An additional 331 flood warnings and 362 flood alerts are also in place.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency has put out two flood alerts and one flood warning.

Natural Resources Wales confirmed another severe flood warning is in place, along with 10 warnings and 38 alerts.

The severe flood warning, which is covering the River Ritec at Tenby, said: “Flooding has become very extensive within Kiln Park and there is the risk of severe disruption to the community, with significant risk to life.”

It added: “There have been reports of raw sewage in the floodwater and therefore precautions should be taken to avoid contact with the water.”
