Tyson Fury ‘doesn’t listen to daddy’ as strict orders sent ahead of Oleksandr Usyk fight

John Fury has claimed Tyson Fury ‘doesn’t listen to daddy’ as the 35-year-old’s fight with Oleksandr Usyk creeps closer.

Boxing fans are counting down for the blockbuster battle, with the duo due to lock horns on February 17 in Saudi Arabia.

Fury will go into the contest with a point to prove, having laboured during his recent victory over Francis Ngannou.

And his father, John, has claimed he has no idea what is happening as his son prepares for the fight with Usyk.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: “People think I know what’s going on in the training camps, but I don’t.

“I don’t have anything to do with it. I should do – but they don’t listen to daddy.

“I know what you’ve got to do for this one. You’ve got to go down a different road completely.”

Fury’s fight with Usyk has the makings of a classic.

Both men are undefeated, which means they’re putting plenty on the line.

Fury was poor against Ngannou last time out and has received criticism for the way he performed.

And John has sent his son strict orders, saying the Briton must gain muscle and work hard to boost his chances of glory.

“Tyson will have the eye of the tiger back for this one, he’ll need to change everything round,” he continued.

“He’ll need to do everything different and gain some solid muscle and put some work in – crack his balls working and when he does that, Usyk’s going to have a problem.

“He won’t be facing this negative Tyson that you saw with a s*** game plan.

“I’m going to say it first. Whoever puts the best camp in and does the work will get it and deserve it.

“If Usyk puts a better camp in that Tyson, he works his a** off, he gets everything right, the better man will win.

“It’s up to both guys what they want out of this.

“Tyson knows he needs an 180 degree turnaround.

“If he’s not prepared to do that, good luck to Usyk.”

Meanwhile, Usyk’s manager has opened up as the bout creeps closer.

He’s backing his man to reign supreme, insisting the Ukrainian is extremely difficult to beat.

And he’s confident Fury’s ‘heavy’ and ‘awkward’ style will be a detriment to the Briton when they meet in the Middle East.

“It’s not going to be easy to get sparring partners, because Tyson Fury is very tall, with a long reach and he has a very awkward style and he’s heavy, so this is going to be the biggest challenge,” he stated.

“But I have no doubts that Oleksandr is going to win.

Boxing news: John Fury says Tyson Fury is keeping him in the dark ahead of Oleksandr Usyk fight

“Factors will be his footwork, his intelligence, his boxing IQ. I wouldn’t even say Fury has big power.

“He has a lot of weight and he leans on fighters.

“That’s how he wears them down. But it won’t be easy to beat down Oleksandr.”
