Dengue fever has spread to some parts of Europe, with cases detected in recent months.

Italy, Spain and France all reported cases of the illness.

Dengue fever is transmitted by mosquitoes and symptoms can present themselves differently in different people.

Most people will experience symptoms such as fever, headache, sickness, rashes and body aches.

Some will have no symptoms at all while others will need hospital care.

A warning has been shared for those visiting Paris after dengue-carrying tiger mosquitoes pushed through the city in recent weeks.

Pest control tactics were used throughout the city.

This follows reported cases in the French Antilles, Martinique and Guadeloupe.

Health leaders in the Balaeric shared a warning.

A spokesperson said: “After the knowledge of the cases, the Balearic authorities have planned the pertinent actions of surveillance and vector control and communication and information to the citizenship, to be carried out before the start of the season of vector activity and during the same.

“The risk of new native cases in Ibiza, at this time of low vector activity is considered low, although this risk is considered moderate once the vector activity period begins (May-November).”

This comes as Britons in Spain were given a travel warning as “extreme disruptions expected” in October.
