Sir David Jason has addressed the possibility of making a new series of Only Fools and Horses two decades on from its final episode.

The iconic British comedy remains a timeless classic and as such, fans are always keen to know if they may see Del Boy and Nicholas Lyndhurst’s Rodney back on-screen one day.

When the question arose during a joint interview with the pair, Blades was the first to chip in: “Oh, I’d love that. I want to be in it. I could be a long-lost nephew.”

“You’d be long, long, long lost if you appeared in it,” Jason quipped before he delved into why he felt it wouldn’t happen.

He told Radio Times: “I’ve had offers over the years, but without John Sullivan [creator who died in 2011] it just wouldn’t work.

“He was a magician and could whip up humour out of virtually nothing – that was his genius. Without him, I don’t see it working, sadly.”

Jason’s current stance is one he’s stated before following the death of Sullivan 13 years ago.

While Jason has found a new TV gem in Touring Toolshed, his Only Fools screen partner Lyndhurst recently headed Stateside for his latest project.

Alongside Kelsey Grammer, Lyndhurst landed a leading role in the rebooted series of Frasier – released on Paramount+ in the UK.

Similar to Touring Toolshed, Frasier went down a hit with fans on both sides of the Atlantic, but Jason recently admitted he’s still yet to watch it.

He wrote in a column for The Times earlier this month: “Winter evenings have us hunkering down in front of the fire and watching television.

“I haven’t seen the reboot of Frasier yet with Nick Lyndhurst, my old co-star from Only Fools and Horses, but I’m sure he will have done a great job.”
