Sir Chris Hoy, the Olympic cycling champion, has shared an uplifting update on social media amidst his battle with terminal cancer.

The 48-year-old posted a selfie from a recent cycling trip during a family holiday, showcasing his determination to stay active and positive.

Atop a hill with picturesque views, Hoy captioned the image: “Worth the effort for the view! Keep pushing”.

Despite facing a challenging prognosis of two to four years to live, Hoy continues to embrace life and inspire others with his resilient spirit.

Hoy’s positive outlook extends beyond his own health challenges. The Olympian recently revealed that his wife, Sarra, has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Despite facing these dual health battles, the couple remains remarkably optimistic. Hoy shared his wife’s perspective, saying: “She says all the time, ‘How lucky are we?’ We both have incurable illnesses for which there is some treatment. Not every disease has that. It could be a lot worse’.”

The Olympian and his wife took their children on holiday to break the news, hoping to control how the information was conveyed to them.

Hoy’s approach to his condition reflects a profound perspective on life and death. He explained to his children that no one lives forever, but expressed hope to “be here for many, many more years”.

The Olympian views his situation philosophically, stating: “As unnatural as it feels, this is nature. You know, we were all born and we all die, and this is just part of the process.”
