Ronnie O’Sullivan refused to make public the secret to his success of reaching the Masters final.

The seven-time champion joked that the BBC pundits should sign a non-disclosure agreement before he told them.

O’Sullivan put in a starring display to beat Shaun Murphy in Saturday’s semi-final at Alexandra Palace.

The 48-year-old won 6-2 to set up a final on Sunday against either Mark Allen or Ali Carter.

O’Sullivan appeared to be close to his best after struggling through his first two games in the tournament.

But he admitted afterwards that he was still not completely happy with how he played.

The Rocket revealed that he tried something different with his bridge hand, which saw him get some joy.

Sat alongside Ken Doherty and Jack Lisowski in the BBC studio, O’Sullivan said: “I was just fiddling about with my bridge hand today.

“I was. Because I thought ‘If I play alright here, I fancy I win. I’ve just got to play alright, I haven’t got to play brilliant, I’ve just got to play alright’.

“I was just finding something that can give me the…”

Lisowski, who lost to Murphy in his quarter-final on Thursday, interrupted by asking what the change was.

He said: “What were you trying to do with the bridge?”

However, O’Sullivan was not prepared to tell anyone while live on air.

In a light-hearted exchange, he replied: “I can’t tell you, I can’t tell you.

“No I can’t tell you because you’ll all look at it and go ‘Look what he was doing with his bridge hand’.

“I’ll tell you later but you’ve got to sign an NDA.”

Irish star Doherty responded by saying: “It’s a secret, it’s a secret.”

Before adding: “Are you going to tell him or are you going to tell me as well?”

O’Sullivan insisted the 54-year-old would need to sign an NDA too in order for his secret to not come out.

He jokingly replied: “I’ll tell you if you like but you’ve got to sign an NDA. You can’t disclose it.”

O’Sullivan will be aiming to win his record-extending eighth Masters title on Sunday.

He pulled off some audacious shots against Murphy, who had two 100-plus breaks of his own.

O’Sullivan insists he is playing for enjoyment rather than doing anything he can to win.

He said: “I’m playing like I’m playing exhibitions. I’m up for none, no matter what. I just pick and choose my tournaments.

“As long as I stay in the top 64, I’ve got a good schedule, I enjoy what I do, I’m not going to sweat guts out there, I’m not going to make 20 or 30 and play safe.

“There’s no point, I’m not going to enjoy it like that. So go for doubles, trebles.”
