US Rapper Fatman Scoop has died at the age of 53, after he collapsed on stage mid-performance.
The Grammy-winning musician, real name Issac Freeman III, fell on stage in Hamden Town Center Park, Connecticut, and was rushed to hospital.
According to reports from fans watching, Freeman was seen struggling before he went behind the DJ decks and out of view. He then collapsed, and medics quickly attended the scene.
His tour manager announced his passing on Saturday, saying he was “lost for words”.

“I am honestly lost for words. You taught me how to be the man I am today. I love you Scoop. Thank you for everything you gave to me.”
Freeman’s booking agency, MN2S, said in a statement to The Independent: “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear friend and client, Fatman Scoop, at the age of 53.
“Scoop was a beloved figure in the music world, whose work was loved by countless fans across the globe. His iconic voice, infectious energy, and great personality made an indelible mark on the industry, and his legacy will live on through his timeless music.”

Sharron Elkabas, the rapper’s representative, said: “I spoke to him just a few days ago, and he was in such good spirits. It’s hard to believe he is no longer with us.”
He was an influential figure in New York City’s hip-hop scene in the 1990s, and released his song Be Faithful in 1999.
The tune, which later went on to top the charts, was actually a sleeper hit, becoming a sensation after it was rereleased in 2003.
He has also featured on popular songs like Grammy award-winning Lose Control by Missy Elliott and It’s Like That by Mariah Carey.

Aside from his music career, he also ventured into podcasting and reality TV, including appearances on Channel 5 ‘s Celebrity Big Brother: UK vs USA in 2015.
He was due to perform at the UK’s Reminisce Festival on September 7. The festival called the news of his death “devastating”, on a post online.
“He was not just one of our most popular performers, he was a cherished member of the Reminisce family,” the festival said.
“His energy, talent and infectious spirit will be missed more than words can express.”
