Novak Djokovic has admitted he has some ‘concerns’ over the condition of his knee that could force him to withdraw from the French Open.

The Serbian tennis superstar has not had a comfortable ride in his previous two rouds, both of which went to five sets.

He managed to pull off an impressive comeback win against Lorenzo Musetti at the weekend, a match that didn’t finish until 3am in the morning.

And it was a similar story against No 23 seed Francisco Cerundolo as the Argentine was up 2-1 and a break in the fourth.

Djokovic required medical attention in the second set when he appeared to damage his right knee and looked as though he might quit at one point.

However, the 24-time Grand Slam champion managed to continue and fought back to win another five-set thriller.

He moves into the quarter-finals of the French Open where he is set to face Casper Ruud on Wednesday.

But the 37-year-old has admitted that he still isn’t sure whether he will be fit enough to play.

“I guess we’ll do some more screening and check-ups,” he said.

“We have done some with the doctor right now after the match.

“Some positive news but also some maybe concerns, so let’s see [on Tuesday].

“I can’t tell you more about it at the moment.”

It’s the same knee where Djokovic has had some problems with in the past few weeks.

He went on to explain that he felt more discomfort in that area once he was more cold.

“I did carry it with me for a couple of weeks, but I did not feel that it was affecting me on the court,” he added.

“Meaning as soon as I would warm up, I would feel fine. I would run, I would do splits, slides, whatever. It wasn’t any kind of an issue when I start to play.

“When I was cold, that’s where I feel the discomfort. So today, again, we did put an extra care and attention to the knee in the last few days, my physio and I.

“It’s like we predicted something might happen, so that helped, but I don’t know.

“Today is just one of these things when you’re on the court, you slip, do a bad move, you’re in an unstable, unbalanced position.

“I guess that’s probably a weaker part of my body that has had some few weeks of history, I guess that reacted. That’s all I know for now.”
