Nigel Farage will be wading through gallons of sticky gunk and scary hell holes in a bid to support his fellow campmates in a brutal opening I’m a Celeb challenge.

Farage will take on the opening challenge of this year’s series alongside This Morning’s Josie Gibson and YouTuber Nella Rose.

A first-look at the brutal task sees the trio separated from the rest of this year’s line-up and transported into the Australian outback.

Surrounded by nothing but sand, the trio will be expected to buy their campmates time in their own tasks.

It won’t be plain sailing for Farage and Co as they tackle through gallons of sticky gunk and scary hell holes in a bid to score tokens.

Tokens will equal time for the likes of Fred Sirieix, Grace Dent, Jamie Lynn Spears and Danielle Harold.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

The details of Nigel’s first test have been outlined

Should Farage execute his challenge to perfection, his campmates will be afforded more respite in their bid to secure stars.

Other campmates face challenges that involve descending a ladder down the side of an eye-wateringly high building.

For others, another height-based challenge awaits with campmates Jamie Lynn, Nick and Marvin expected to carry out an iconic skydive.

Their tasks could be made easier with the help of Farage’s team, whose tokens could prove vital.

The GB News star has opened up on why he is heading Down Under.

“I want to test myself”, he said. “Business, politics, media, I’ve done so many different jobs and generally I have been reasonably successful.

“But I have never been tested in quite this way. It’s such a mental test and maybe I will discover who I really am.”

Speaking on Matt Hancock’s controversial appearance on last year’s edition, he said: “I understood why Matt Hancock did it. He went in there with his reputation on the floor.

“The truth is after the banking issue I raised a few months ago, I was standing up for a million people who had lost their bank accounts, then winning at the TRIC awards, I am going in at a different stage of my career.”

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! launches this Sunday at 9pm on ITV1 & ITVX.
