The Met Office has warned thick fog and mist will hit the UK in the coming days as mercury plummets to single-digits.

Overnight temperatures will fall to as low as -1C in Scotland, WX Charts has said.


The rest of the UK will likely experience temperatures in the single-digits.

Mercury will continue to slowly get higher tomorrow but will remain close to freezing in places.

In its weather forecast for Tuesday, the UK’s national weather service said: “Mist and fog patches in the south with a band of rain sinking southeast through the day weakening as it goes.

“Sunny spells and blustery showers as it clears.”

Looking ahead to later this week, the Met Office added: “Dry start on Wednesday with further rain arriving from the west, turning heavy at times through Thursday. Remaining cold and unsettled for Friday.”

Scattered showers will hit parts of the UK on Tuesday, WX Charts has claimed.

West Wales will witness rainfall at around midday.

Scotland and North West England could also experience wetter conditions.

The brunt of the rainfall is not expected until Wednesday, with much of the UK bracing for downpours.

Showers will continue to sweep across Britain going into a wet weekend.

However, Britons will first have to contend with more than 200 flood warnings and alerts.

England’s Enviornment Agency issued 58 flood warnings and 166 flood alerts today.

A further two flood alerts are also in place in Wales.

However, England removed an additional 69 flood warnings from its list in the last 24 hours.
