Marcus Rashford has been heavily linked with a move to AC Milan this month – but Manchester City could torpedo the transfer.
Manchester United are expecting a formal approach from the Italian giants in the coming days over a potential loan deal.
Rashford has been largely ostracised by Ruben Amorim since he replaced Erik ten Hag as United manager last year.
The forward has not played for the Red Devils since a 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on December 7.

And Rashford’s camp have been jetting around Europe looking for a new club with his United career currently in tatters.
AC Milan have become the frontrunners for a short-term move, pushed by club adviser Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played with Rashford at United.
However, the Serie A outfit are also in the race to sign Kyle Walker from City, who was left out of the FA Cup clash against Salford City.
Pep Guardiola revealed that the defender was absent because he had told the club he wanted to leave this month with AC Milan keen on his services.
Milan can only register one English player due to Serie A regulations which stipulate that a club can register up to three non-EU players and one extra from the UK or Albania if they have no current non-EU players in their squad.
