Manchester United have sacked a casual steward for promising to help fans smuggle Palestine flags into Old Trafford.
A user on X by the name of Ismael posted a screenshot of an email from an official Manchester United annount.
The email in question read: “This email is to inform you that you will not receive any further offers of work.
“You will be removed from the pool of casual workers and your P45 will be processed.
“Regards Safety Management Team.”
The Daily Mail have now confirmed the authenticity of the email in question.
It’s claimed the fan offered assistance in getting Palestine flags into Old Trafford in defiance of a Premier League ban.
The act was also against United’s own stadium policy, too.
Ismail had previously posted on social media: “If anyone comes to watch the game and your seat is in the South Stand and want to bring a Palestine flag but someone causes problems, then let me know.
“I’m a steward at Manchester United, and I work in the South Stand.
“My coat number is 455 so you’ll be able to spot me easily.”
The steward is reportedly agency-employed and has refused to comment on the matter when quizzed further.
United have also declined to comment, too.
But he has allegedly committed other breaches of contract during his time working with the Red Devils, therefore leaving them no other choice.
On Sunday, a United fan claimed he had been ejected from his seat at Old Trafford for showing a Palestine flag.
The disgruntled supporter said: “15 Years I’ve been a season ticket holder at this club, and today [Sunday] they assaulted us and threw us out for displaying a Palestinian flag peacefully for 30 seconds at half time.
“Let me reiterate there were no comms prior to the game from Man Utd to say it wasn’t allowed.”
They added: “The stewards below gave no reason, no warning, nothing, just that we had to leave without reason.
“They then continued to assault us while feeling empowered by the presence of @gmpolice, this club is failing on many levels, but this is beyond low, every week we have flags.
“In the last 2 weeks alone I have seen Greece, Armenia, Cyprus flags in S21 with no action, yet a Palestine flag is apparently an issue.
“Atrocious from Man United, when we thought the club couldn’t get any lower … on that note we continue.
“Again, no comms before game about this, but a quick search on the Man United website indicates no ‘offensive’ flags allowed.
‘No mention of country flags being prohibited.
“Does that mean they consider Palestine ‘offensive?’ Talk about what side of history the club stands on.”
