A man has been charged with murder and attempted murder after a mother was killed in a hit-and-run crash.

Alana Armstrong, from Tibshelf, was knocked off an e-bike that was in a collision with a 4×4 in Derbyshire last week.

The 25-year-old victim, who had a six-year-old son, died at the scene in Batley Lane, Pleasley, at around 8pm on Tuesday 26 November.

Ms Armstrong was riding pillion on the e-bike that was being ridden by a man in his 20s, who has had part of his leg amputated since the crash.

Keaton Muldoon, 23, from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, has been charged with murder and attempted murder after the pair were knocked off the bike.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Police said a dark-coloured Land Rover Discovery had followed two e-bikes before ramming the one Ms Armstrong was riding.

The 4×4 then drove off without stopping, officers added.

The vehicle was found over the weekend and was forensically examined, police said.

A woman in her 30s had been arrested and released on bail, and a man and woman previously arrested in connection with the incident were also released without charge.

Following the crash, Chief Superintendent Dave Kirby from Derbyshire Constabulary said: “Alana was just 25 – and a mum to a six-year-old boy. Her little boy, along with her wider family, will never get the chance to see her again, hug her again, spend Christmas together, or celebrate all those milestones.”
