Luke Littler has missed out on qualification for the German Darts Grand Prix next month after losing a qualifier on Wednesday.

The 17-year-old qualified for the Belgian Darts Open earlier in the day but won’t be heading to Germany after losing to Jim Williams.

Littler has had a busy week ahead of the third night of the Premier League, which takes place in Glasgow on Thursday.

The teenager won his first ProTour event at the Players Championship 1 in Wigan on Monday, beating Ryan Searle in a thrilling final.

He was back in action at the Players Championship 2 on Tuesday, aiming to earn more ranking points.

Littler beat Danny Noppert in the first round but then suffered a shock defeat against Polish-Irish bus driver Radek Szaganski.

He got revenge over Szaganski less than 24 hours later, beating him 6-0 in the first round of the ET1 Tour Card Holder Qualifiers.

Littler went on to beat Mervyn King and Maik Kuivenhoven to ensure he would qualify for the Belgian Darts Open, which takes place between March 8 and 10.

The action continued on Wednesday afternoon in the ET2 Tour Card Holder Qualifiers.

Littler came from behind to beat Christian Perez 6-4 in the opening round to set up a clash against Williams.

He looked set to win again but Williams broke back after trailing 4-2 and 5-4 and took the match to a deciding leg, which he won to see out a 6-5 victory.

Defeat means Littler will now not participate at the German Darts Grand Prix, which takes place between March 30 and April 1.

The top 16 players from the PDC Order of Merit qualify by right for every European Tour event.

They will then be joined by the top 16 non-qualified players from the Order of Merit at the entry deadline.

Littler did not fit in either category so attempted to be one of 10 players who will get to the tournament through qualification.

He was able to make the final 10 for the Belgian Darts Open but not for the tournament in Germany.
