A passenger was forced to run alongside a moving Elizabeth Line train for 17 metres after their hand became trapped in a door at Ealing Broadway Station.
The incident, which occurred in November 2023, saw the passenger suffer minor injuries and has prompted an investigation by the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB).
The incident occurred at approximately 12.07am on November 24 at the West London station.
The passenger’s hand became trapped while attempting to board the train, which then began to depart.

A member of railway staff on the platform pulled the passenger away after they were forced to run alongside the moving train.
Other passengers on the platform alerted the driver to the emergency, causing the train to stop after moving approximately 17 metres.
RAIB launched an investigation into the incident to examine several key factors.
Investigators will consider any elements that may have influenced the actions of those involved in the incident.

The investigation will also examine how risks associated with passengers boarding and alighting Elizabeth line trains are currently managed.
The Ealing Broadway incident follows several similar cases across the rail network in recent years.
In July 2024, a passenger was trapped at Enfield Town station in North London, while another incident occurred at Seven Sisters in June 2022.
Further cases were reported at Bushey, Hertfordshire, in March 2018, Hayes and Harlington in West London in July 2015, and Newcastle Central in June 2013.
Each incident involved passengers having to run alongside trains after their hand or arm became trapped in doors.
Elizabeth Line services are operated by MTR Elizabeth line under a concession agreement with Transport for London.
A TfL spokesman said: “We’re sorry that our customer experienced this distressing incident.
“Safety is our top priority and our operator, MTR Elizabeth line, is currently carrying out a thorough investigation.
“We will always strive to learn from incidents and improve operational safety.
“MTR Elizabeth line is fully co-operating with the RAIB to establish the root cause of this incident to determine what steps they can take to avoid any further events of this nature and to share learnings with the industry.
“While serious injuries on our network are rare, we are undertaking a huge range of work aimed eradicating such incidents and making travelling even safer for everyone.”
