Ross Brawn has admitted it would be ‘wonderful’ to see Lewis Hamilton join Red Bull.

However, the former F1 star is unsure if the Stevenage-born racer will leave Mercedes despite their issues this season.

There was once a time when Hamilton and Mercedes were dominant in the sport.

The Silver Arrows won seven titles in a row as a team between 2014 and 2020, with Hamilton delivering six of those triumphs.

However, ever since Hamilton was denied a historic eighth F1 title in Abu Dhabi back in 2021, the team have toiled.

Red Bull are now the side to beat, while Verstappen has already secured three crowns in a row.

Hamilton signed a new contract with Mercedes earlier this year, showing his commitment to the team in the process.

And while Brawn isn’t sure if the 38-year-old would switch sides, it’s still something he’d love to see.

“I don’t know,” he told talkSPORT when quizzed on the possibility.

“It would be wonderful to see wouldn’t it!”

Hamilton seems resigned to the fact that Mercedes will struggle to reel in their rivals going forward.

“Ultimately all I can do is try to remain optimistic,” he said after the recent Brazil Grand Prix.

“The Red Bull, I think, is so far away I think they’re probably going to be very clear for the next couple of years.”

Yet Red Bull chief Christian Horner has slammed Hamilton for his comments and says the Mercedes star has a ‘selective memory’.

“I feel like he’s got selective memory,” Horner stated.

“So you know, some of the winning that they did in that period was just obscene.

“We’ve had a good run for a couple of years, but the one guy that shouldn’t be saying that I would think, is Lewis.”

Hamilton did, however, insist he and the rest of the Mercedes team will do their utmost to turn their form and fortunes around.

“Ultimately, in the moment, it is a step back,” he said.

“But as a team we’ll just come together and we’ll try and push forward.

“There’ll be a lot of analysis this week after today.

“I’m sure there’ll be things that will be like ‘ah, maybe if we had done this, it would have been better’.

“But I think still, ultimately, the car didn’t work here for some reason and that is the way it is.”

Hamilton is now preparing for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, which is due to take place on November 19.

The event will mark the first F1 race in Las Vegas since the 1982 Caesars Palace Grand Prix.

It will take place around the Vegas Strip on a brand-new street track and is the third race of the season to take place in the United States this season.
