Viewers of the Olympic Opening ceremony were left disappointed and left feeling the occasion had turned “woke” after Lady Gaga’s “shocking” performance – where one of her dancers slipped.
Kicking off the ceremony, the countries taking part were paraded down the 6km route, taking in the nearby monuments.
Some 222,000 free tickets were given away, with 80 giant screens around the city for everyone to have a chance to watch.
Whilst many weren’t able to rehearse, the ceremony was thrown into chaos and failed to grip some viewers who were already beginning to turn off at the start.
Throughout the boats floating down the river, there were displays of talent put on which included a performance from Poker Face singer Lady Gaga – however, her cabaret performance also failed to impress.
Her dancers were also unable to keep up with the shenanigans and slipped during their highly energetic performance.
Not letting the moment go unnoticed, one X user commented: “LADY GAGA AND CLOWN MACRON, CAN’T MAKE THIS WOKE CRAP. CRINGE. Olympic ceremony in Paris.”
“Would rather have seen some French music from France singers why oh why do we have to have Lady Gaga seriously,” a second replied before a third said: “Lady Gaga, that famous French singer.”
Someone else added: “If you can’t even fill the #OpeningCeremony with recognisable well-known acts from your own country then you don’t deserve to host.”
“Can someone explain why Lady Gaga is performing… they are not French… London 2012 we didn’t need to bring in Americans to perform,” one annoyed viewer fumed before someone else agreed: “Ok, they have Gaga but she’s not French.” (sic)

Many were also left furious after Tom Hiddleston made a cameo to open the ceremony and claimed it was a waste of “license fee money”.
Explaining the story of France’s last games 100 years ago, he said: “This is the story, 100 years in the making, and the next chapter of it starts here, in Paris, the city of Love, because it all starts with love.
“The Olympic journey begins with things that you don’t see. The early wake-ups. The love of someone who believes in you. Practice. Over, and over and over again.
“Day in and day out, year in, year out, all for a chance to stand on top of the world. It’s art. You see, a lot can change in 100 years, but the things we love have been the same forever.

“Watching someone’s dreams come true. Seeing them light up the world and feeling proud of them. Together. So prepare for moments that will light up your eyes, and fill up your heart.
“And together, we will make memories to last another 100 years. Prepare to be part of history. This is the Paris Olympics. Let the games begin.”
