During the commemoration of the 12th anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) on June 18, Biden formally announced the measure that would provide legal status and deportation protections for approximately 500,000 American families and around 50,000 non-citizen children under 21 whose parents are married to U.S. citizens.
Under existing federal law, undocumented individuals who marry U.S. citizens must leave the country to request parole before applying for legal residency. However, the new executive action, set to go into effect by the end of the summer, eliminates this requirement and enables spouses to apply for residency without leaving the United States.
Moreover, the move also seeks to mend fences with immigration advocates and progressives who have criticized Biden for recent restrictive actions, including efforts to limit asylum processing at the U.S. southern border earlier this June.

“When he was president, he separated families and children at the border,” Biden said of Trump. And now he’s proposing to rip spouses and children from their families, homes and communities and place them in detention camps. He’s actually saying these things, it’s hard to believe it’s been said, but he’s actually saying these things out loud.”
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas even advertised the new executive order in an interview, even claiming it is all “about family unity.”
“It is about family unity. That is an ethic and a value of this country, and we will benefit significantly from it. We will keep families together, families including the undocumented spouses who have contributed so much to this country, in so many different ways.”
Biden using ILLEGALS to boost chances of winning the November election
“Like the Obama administration did in 2012 with the launch of the DACA program, Biden administration officials are also examining whether there’s an action they could take for a different group of undocumented people who have long resided in the U.S., according to the three people familiar with the administration’s planning,” the outletreported in March.
“One idea that has been floated among administration officials is opening access to the cancellation of removal program for people who have lived in the U.S. for over 10 years and have citizen or resident relatives who would ‘suffer’ if they were deported. If specific requirements are met and an immigration judge approves cancellation of removal, a migrant is able to obtain a green card.”
As Democrats continue to lose voters in battleground states like Arizona, Nevada and Georgia, which are all crucial for Biden’s re-election prospects, this newfound plan is part of a large-scale effort to secure more left-wing voters.
But despite several executive actions, the Biden campaign remains in denial of this tactic.
“Families belong together – it’s that simple. It’s why President Biden’s actions today are so important, and it’s also a powerful stark reminder of Donald Trump’s unforgivable legacy of ripping crying children away from their parents when he put in place his family separation policy,” said Biden’s campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez.
