Jeremy Clarkson issues important update on upcoming ‘critical year’ as he reflects on ‘total disaster’ pub

Since the new Budget was announced and Rachel Reeves set out her guidelines for the future, British farmers across the country have been left uncertain about how they will continue to run their legacies.

Clarkson has campaigned for farmers across the country but recently admitted his own uncertainty moving forward.

Writing on X, the Clarkson’s Farm account said: “2025 will be a critical year for the farming industry and we’ll be supporting farmers through it however possible.

“Thank you for all of your continued support!” (sic)

Clarkson recently laid bare the financial rut he has found himself in due to the difficulty of the pub, going on to brand it a “total disaster” just months after the grand opening.

Despite the hype around the pub opening, it was revealed the venture only made £150 in profit last year.

Speaking about the difficult time, he said in his latest Sunday Times column: “Behind the scenes, then, everything is a total disaster. But the fact is that when you go there you just wouldn’t know.

“The Christmas turkeys have been even more of a disaster. We ordered 40 from our local shepherd, who does them as a sideline.

“Most of the bar staff look like they’ve been working at a Corfu nightclub’s foam night!”

In a further blow to their proceedings and how they will continue in the future, it was revealed that the Diddly Squat Farm Shop would be closing for two months.

While reasons for the closure haven’t been revealed, punters will still be able to taste the local produce at The Farmer’s Dog pub pop-up which is available three days a week.

The update comes after Clarkson revealed glasses from the pub were being stolen and sold online and making staggering profits.

Once again writing in his Sunday Times column, he said: “The theft is extraordinary. People seem to have it in their heads that if they come in for a pint they are entitled to go home with the glass in which it was served.

“Last Sunday 104 went missing. And that cost must be added to the £100 a day we spend on fuel for the generator.

“The £400 a week it costs to provide warmth on the terrace and the £27,000 a month we must spend on parking and traffic marshals to keep the council off our back. And that’s before you get to the cost of employing people in Starmer’s Britain these days”.
