Capital’s Summertime Ball was shown on ITV tonight but some viewers were left confused and “feeling old” as they expressed how they didn’t know most of the acts.
Each year, some of the biggest pop stars across the world come together and put on a show for their adoring fans and sing their top hits which are often played on the radio station.
Tonight, broadcaster ITV aired the concert and the highlights so that those who couldn’t attend could enjoy the show from home.
Singers and bands such as Anne-Marie, Raye, Tom Grennan, the Jonas Brothers, Ellie Goulding, Calvin Harris, Aitch, Sabrina Carpenter, Sugarbabes, Benson Boone, David Guetta, and Megan Trainor were in attendance.
However, whilst the crowd at Wembley Stadium was thrilled with the entertainment, those at home were left let down and wondering whether they were considered “old”.
Taking to X, one commented: “No idea who these acts are, watching #summertimeball on @ITV and I have yet to see an act I know, bar the Sugar babes who sang one song and then was offski.”
“#SummertimeBall All looks and sounds a bit shit,” another noted before a third expressed: “#SummertimeBall This is the concert version of Soccer Aid.”
“Please actually pay money to watch this? #summertimeball,” a fourth penned before someone else said: “Watching @global Capital Summertime Ball. Who are these people!!? I’m very very very old! #summertimeball.”
A sixth wrote: “I must be really old (I’m 24) but I haven’t heard of anyone who has been on stage so far lol (except the Sugababes, but only because they’ve been reincarnated 463882934 times before).”
However, not all viewers were let down as one praised: “Watching the #SummerTimeBall on ITV. Always love watching it.” (sic)

Natasha Beddingfield made a surprise appearance at the concert and said in her statement: “I’m overjoyed with the fact that my songs are reaching a new generation of fans.
“Unwritten and These Words are such personal songs for me and to think, 20 years later, I’d be singing them at Capital’s Summertime Ball with Barclaycard is mind-blowing.
“The crowd was incredible, I feel so incredibly honoured to be asked to surprise the fans.”
Later in the evening, Trainor sang her song Whoops from her new album Limitless and Been Like This, her hit with American rapper T-Pain.
David Guetta was on the DJ decks performing for the audience

Introducing the song, she said: “Does anyone here love T-Pain as much as I do? He’s not here, don’t expect the best. I wish he was here. I’m sorry. That’d be so cool. I’m not that powerful.
“Okay, let’s sing this really loud for T-Pain.”
