An ITV star has undergone a startling transformation as new photos have revealed what she will look like for a dramatic new role.

The celeb is playing the part of Queen Elizabeth II in a new stage show called Diana: The Musical.

Fans online were shocked after an image of the TV star was shared, with the actress looking worlds away from her usual appearance.

The soap star donned a grey blazer, a blue top and a grey checked midi skirt to look the part of the late Queen.

The actress, famous for appearing on Coronation Street, wore a short, curly brown wig to complete the look.

The photo, which was posted yesterday, has already gathered 82 shares and over 1,900 likes.

Denise Welch, Loose Women star, has lost her iconic crop of blonde hair to portray the late monarch in the new West End show.

Fans flocked to social media to express their support for the star.

One said: “You were fabulous! Loved it”, whilst another added: “Incredible transformation”.

A third chimed in: “Denise you look lovely” and a fourth said: “You were brilliant tonight.”

The excited 65-year-old captioned the head-turning image: “And we’re off!! Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated”.

The caption was in reference to Welch’s Wikipedia page being falsely updated over the weekend to state that she had died.

The paragraph on the online encyclopedia site read: “Denise Welch sadly was killed after being ran over by Kerry Riches’ mobility scooter.”

Welch’s name was soon trending on social media, as the strange edits updated the star’s birthplace to be on the Hollyoaks’ set.

Her date of birth had also been changed to February of this year.

The star was also credited as appearing in Loose Them/They instead of Loose Women.

Users were left in stitches over the bizarre edits.

One person wrote: “I have been off Twitter for 1 hour, how have I missed so much? As if someone added this to Denise Welch’s Wikipedia.”

Someone else recounted: “So I shouted into my mum’s room, ‘Guess who’s dead DENISE WELCH’.

“She shouted, ‘Whaaat? She was only on telly the other day god rest her soul’. Then I see in the comments Wikipedia got hacked.”
