Dancing On Ice fans have been left split over the cast of the next series, with some even going as far as threatening to switch off all together.

As of Wednesday afternoon, nine famous faces have been unveiled to be taking part in the show when it rolls around next year.

Boxer Ricky Hatton was the first announced before being followed by actor Claire Sweeney and S Club singer Hannah Spearritt.

Love Island winner-turned-West End actor Amber Davies has also joined the cast alongside fellow reality TV star Miles Nazaire of Made in Chelsea fame.

Soon after, long-jumper Greg Rutherford and comedian Lou Sanders followed, alongside Stephen Lustig-Webb who recently announced his exit from Channel 4’s Gogglebox.

Former EastEnders star Ricky Norwood was the ninth celebrity announced as diehard fans remain on tenterhooks to see who else will make up the cast for the next series.

However, some other DOI fanatics aren’t best pleased with the prospect of the 2024 series given the calibre of celebrities signed up so far.

Reacting to the cast announcements on X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan fumed: “So far not sure I will bother. Who are these people? (Apart from Greg Rutherford).”

A second suggested canning the entire thing: “What’s happened to dancing on ice, think it’s had its time… not only this lady but who are all these supposed famous people..”

Meanwhile, a third suggested ITV bosses were “scraping the barrel” as they fumed: “Did you spend so much on Claire and Ricky that you can’t afford anyone else?”

And a fourth weighed in: “Speaking of shows I grew up watching I’m kinda disappointed with the #DancingOnIce lineup for next year. I’ll still watch but the only one I know is Hannah from S Club 7. Surely they can do better than that..”

The complaints continued on Instagram, with one fan writing on Sanders’ announcement: “Worse cast yet!!!! There is no real famous people in this year going to be boring.”

However, Sanders has taken the opportunity to hit back at disgruntled fans who took the time to share their complaints on the show’s Instagram page.

The comedian shared a series of screenshots on her social media page with sarcastic responses, including one to the aforementioned complaint to which she quipped back: “I’ll try and make it entertaining by knocking myself unconscious or sumin.” (sic)

Despite the uproar among some, there have been a number of vocal supporters who can’t wait to see the cast of 2024 in action.
