WWE legend Hulk Hogan has died at the age of 71 after suffering a cardiac arrest at home.

The wrestling icon, born Terry Gene Bollea, was found dead at his home in Clearwater, Florida on Thursday morning.

Medics were dispatched to his home in the early hours of the morning with first responders receiving a call about a cardiac arrest.

Several police cars and EMTs surrounded Hogan’s home before a stretcher was seen being loaded onto an ambulance.

There had been reports last month that the WWE icon was battling health problems but his wife, Sky, denied rumours that he was in a coma after undergoing surgery.

Hogan had an operation on his neck in May and had been dealing with the symptoms in the aftermath.

The WWE took to social media to write a statement, posting: “WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away.

“One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”

Hogan faced severe repercussions in 2015 when recordings emerged featuring him uttering deeply offensive racial slurs, including repeated use of ‘n-word’.

The former champion acknowledged these comments as “the biggest mistake of [his] life” in a public apology.

WWE responded decisively to the revelations. The organisation severed all connections with the wrestling icon, erasing his presence from forthcoming productions, documentary features and interactive entertainment products.

His expulsion extended to wrestling’s most prestigious honour with the WWE removing Hogan from their hall of fame.

Three years following his dismissal, the wrestling organisation welcomed Hogan back into their fold during 2018. His hall of fame status was restored alongside his professional standing within the company.

Throughout his remaining active years with the organisation, Hogan maintained positive professional relations with WWE management and personnel.

This period of rehabilitation saw the wrestler’s gradual reintegration into wrestling’s mainstream narrative. His presence returned to company events and productions, effectively reversing the comprehensive ban implemented in 2015.

Nearly a decade after the scandal that temporarily ended his wrestling career, Hogan emerged on America’s political stage in 2024.

The retired wrestler delivered remarks at the Republican National Convention, endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential re-election bid.
