Harry Kane retirement plan emerges with England striker set to break Tottenham hearts

Harry Kane wants to play into his 40s before retiring from football, according to reports.

The England striker has been outstanding ever since leaving Tottenham for Bayern Munich back in the summer transfer window.

Kane has netted three hat-tricks for Bayern Munich so far, boosting their chances of retaining their Bundesliga title in the process.

And he’s already bagged 21 goals across all competitions from just 16 appearances, further enhancing his reputation as one of the best No9s in world football.

Kane, according to the Daily Mail, wants to play into his 40s before retiring from football.

That will likely be dependent on injuries, with the forward staying free of any serious issues over the course of his career so far.

When Kane left Tottenham for Bayern back in the summer, it was reported that a return one day was a possibility.

After all, as the club’s all-time leading scorer, Spurs would likely welcome the 30-year-old back with open arms.

However, hopes of a Hollywood homecoming have now been shut down.

The publication says that Kane is unlikely to ever rejoin his own club while the current board is in place.

There is, perhaps, annoyance at the way Tottenham have been run over the years.

For a while they made substantial progress under Mauricio Pochettino, even making the 2019 Champions League final.

Yet Tottenham opted to roll the dice by axing Pochettino just mere months later.

Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte were brought in as serial winners with the task of finally ending Spurs’ wait for a trophy.

They haven’t lifted any silverware since beating Chelsea in the final of the EFL Cup in 2008.

But Mourinho and Conte both moved Tottenham away from the progressive football they’d been playing under Pochettino.

Current Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has worked wonders since his appointment back in the summer.

Recent defeats to Chelsea and Wolves, however, have dented their hopes of winning a first-ever Premier League title.

Kane is expected to feature when England face North Macedonia on Monday night.

He was critical of the Three Lions on Friday night following their flat 2-0 win over Malta at Wembley.

“It was not our finest performance, let’s say, but sometimes you play a team who have got more quality than people think,” stated the 30-year-old.

“At the start of the game, we missed the right tempo. We were sloppy and we couldn’t quite build.

“In the second half we had more control and created chances. But overall, it’s a 2-0 win.”

England go into Monday’s Euro 2024 qualifying match unbeaten so far.

They have won six of their seven matches, with a draw against Ukraine in September the only time they’ve failed to come out on top.

England are six points clear at the summit of their group, with Italy and Ukraine both on 13 points each.
