Expats looking to move to Greece are spoiled for choice, with many beautiful islands and lively cities to choose from.
A woman who moved to the country three years ago shared her experiences living abroad.
While she loves her life in the Mediterranean spot and said she would “never go back”, expat Ludmila admitted she had to make some initial adjustments.
“One of the biggest culture shocks so far… even from the very beginning was the lack of personal space that everyone gives here,” she said.

“For me it was crazy. I don’t know how it is everywhere else but [at home] if you are near someone, it’s just weird. You cannot be too close to someone or you’ll be considered a weirdo.
“If you go into the metro and there’s somebody in the metro car, you need to go to the next metro car because if you sit in the same one you’ve got some weird motives.”
The expat added she was on public transport in Greece shortly after moving there and was shocked that everyone was pushing and touching each other.
“It was definitely something I had to get used to,” she said on My Greek Expat Journey’s YouTube account.
She advised others looking to move to give themselves some time to get used to being in another culture.
Despite making initial adjustments, Ludmila added she has loved her experience overall and would “not go back” to her native Canada.
When discussing her favourite thing, she said she “fell in love with the weather”, adding she enjoys that it is hot enough to start swimming as early as May.
This comes as experts praised Greece as having a cost of living “30 per cent lower than in the UK”.
