A “drunk” passenger on an EasyJet flight from Manchester to Tunisia caused so much disruption that the plane was forced to divert to Italy.
The man from Doncaster was hauled off the Airbus A320 by police officers after it landed on Sardinia, an Italian island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.
Passengers say the disruptive man, who was with a group of 16 others, insulted fellow travellers and cabin crew during the flight.
The group had all been drinking heavily prior to takeoff, both at the bars and downing duty-free alcohol, other passengers reported.

One said: “Alcohol was not sold on board because of all the drunks.
“But unbeknown to cabin staff they were necking duty free even when we arrived and were on the coach transfer.”
Another passenger said that the man’s friends were unable to stop him from swearing and “making personal comments about passengers”.
“It was the most unpleasant journey I’ve ever been on,” said another disgruntled traveller.

A spokesperson for EasyJet said: “EasyJet flight EZY2275 from Manchester to Enfidha yesterday diverted to Sardinia and was met by police due to a passenger behaving disruptively onboard.
“Once the passenger had left the aircraft, the flight continued to Enfidha.
“EasyJet’s cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers are not compromised at any time.
“While such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and do not tolerate disruptive behaviour.”
Last month, an EasyJet passenger was restrained by other holidaymakers and then hurled off the flight after he went on a 30-minute long “biting and spitting rampage”.

Christopher Burgess, 44, was travelling from Alicante to Manchester when he started making a scene.
The 44-year-old was “slurring at the mouth”, with some parents moving their children away from Burgess to “keep their distance”.
One passenger – on the November 8, 2023 flight – said that Burgess “repeatedly abused” him and attempted to bite him.
After calling the police, fellow passengers had to restrain him until officers could intervene.
