Dick Strawbridge has praised his children on the latest episode of his podcast for their “sweet” moment of commemoration during this year’s Remembrance Sunday.

The 65-year-old and his wife Angel Adoree, 46, have maintained a loyal fanbase through their podcasts and touring despite ending Escape to the Chateau series in 2022.

On this week’s instalment, the pair discussed their experience of Remembrance Sunday in Manchester ahead of a drive to Exeter.

Strawbridge explains that he took a walk to see the proceedings and took a moment for a personal “couple minutes silence there”.

When the time for the official silence came, the 65-year-old was pleasantly surprised to see that “a lot of other people were so respectful”.

“Lovely to see so many people remembering,” he said warmly.

Strawbridge chuckled as both he and Angel admitted they were startled by the cannon announcing the beginning and end of the two-minute silence.

Angel had stayed at home with their children Arthur, 11, and Dorothy, 10.

She revealed their children also observed their own, unprompted two-minute silence.

The 46-year-old said: “It was really nice because Arthur and Dorothy were just sitting there, also in silence.”

“It was really sweet,” she added.

Angel explained the children had been studying “a lot of history” in school recently.

“Every year I see them understanding a little bit more,” Angel concluded.

Strawbridge, who is a retired British army lieutenant colonel, has instilled an ethos of respect for the services in his children.

The 65-year-old explained he and his family observed a private two-minute silence.

“I always take two minutes, usually with the children and Angela, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month,” he revealed.

Strawbridge also has two adult children from his previous marriage: James, 40, and Charlotte, 38.

While the older children did not appear on Escape to the Chateau, Strawbridge and Angel explain they are very active in family life and get along with well Arthur and Dorothy.
