Darts star Ricardo Pietreczko has threatened to boycott the WDC if he receives a hostile reception from the crowd.

The 29-year-old is due to play Mikuru Suzuki on Tuesday night in his first match of the tournament.

Pieterczko will, however, enter the showdown with a point to prove.

The German was booed and jeered by some fans after losing 5-1 to Beau Greaves at the recent Grand Slam of Darts.

He then proceeded to ignore the crowd in his match with Nathan Aspinall.

And Pietreczko has threatened to boycott the fans in attendance at Alexandra Palace if he’s jeered again.

“If they don’t want to see me, then I don’t understand why I have to accept such disrespectful things,” he stated.

“It is absurd.

“I just want to be myself again.”

Earlier in the year, at a tournament in Leverkusen, Pietreczko told fans not to boo their non-German opponents.

He was also left upset by spectators when he toiled during matches at the Hungarian Darts Trophy, too.

And how he fares remains to be seen.

Suzuki is set to become the second woman to feature at this year’s WDC after Fallon Sherrock.

Sherrock went into the competition with high hopes but was unable to overcome opponent Jermaine Wattimena on Sunday.

Speaking after her defeat, Sherrock admitted she was ‘gutted’.

“I’m gutted with the result,” said the 29-year-old, who previously made history in 2019 by becoming the first female player to win a match at the Championship.

“I had spells when I played well tonight but I missed chances at key moments and they cost me.

“Full credit to Jermaine, he was the better player on the night and he punished me when I missed chances.”

Sherrock is in a relationship with fellow darts player Cameron Menzies.

Menzies also lost on Monday – but is happy Rangers beat Aberdeen 1-0 on Sunday.

“It’s been a rollercoaster few days. I obviously lost, Rangers won and then Fallon lost,” he said.

“Both of us are kind of going through the same emotions.

“Not that we deserved to win our matches but we had opportunities to go closer than we did.

“Fallon is feeling it more than me at the moment because it’s more raw.

“I’ve had a couple of days to console and get over it. She’s still a bit down.

“We know how we both feel and have gone through the same emotions very quickly.

“She just wanted to get home so it was a very quiet journey home on Sunday night.”
