Speaking with Paul Coyte as they gave their football predictions to GB News members, Clive Allen discussed his incredible victory as joint manager of a Spurs legends team.
Clive said “It was absolutely terrific. It was for the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. But it was just magical. It really was to see, you know, players returning. We got together the night before the most unbelievable atmosphere. They were like schoolboys, I can assure you.”
Clive went on to discuss the team saying “Aaron Lennon, Robbie Keane, Dimitar Berbatov, Jermain Defoe. They were pretty sharp.”
AC Milan were able to field a team of greats themselves including two-time World Cup winner Cafu and midfield maestro and Italy World Cup winner Andrea Pirlo. These legends weren’t enough to stop Clive and Spurs who came away with a spectacular 6-2 victory.

Clive teased potentially more legends matches in the future saying “I think Michael Dawson said afterwards in an interview that there won’t be too many legends teams who will be looking forward to playing us. So, hopefully we have further games in the future. And they’re not going to be easy to beat, I can assure you.”
Paul spoke about the increased popularity of these matches he said “I know Liverpool have a team and there’s other clubs around the country and they’re seeing now the potential in fans wanting to see their favorite players.”
Clive added “Well, that was that was the that that was the great thing Paul. You know thousands turned up to watch it. I think they all thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of them were asking us will there be future games? I really do hope so.”
Paul was also on the pitch himself interviewing players before the game “Talk about a kid in a candy store for me to go out on the pitch and just go round with a microphone, I was just in my element. It was a fantastic time.”
Clive responded “I’ve never seen you enjoy yourself so much out on the turf!”
