Trainers and the full medical crew quickly made their way across the field to attend to the emergency situation.

The emergency created a sombre atmosphere inside the Cardiff City Stadium as fans awaited news.

Cardiff City posted on social media: “Play stopped at the moment. Calls from the crowd for medical support in the Ninian Stand, which has swiftly made its way across.”

They later added: “The players have left the pitch for the time being and returned to the dressing rooms. We’ll update further as soon as possible.”
