Caitlyn Jenner has been branded “tacky” and “heartless” after taking to social media site X to share her reaction to OJ Simpson’s death.
The 76-year-old’s death was announced on Thursday following his battle with cancer.
A statement from his family read: “On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.
“He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
“During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace.”
Jenner, whose ties with Simpson span decades as part of the Kardashian/Simpson web, wasted no time in showing her disdain for the convicted footballer-turned-actor on X.

Jenner, 74, simply typed the words: “Good Riddance,” on the social media alongside the hashtag “#OJSimpson”.
The blunt response sparked waves of controversy among her followers, with Jenner being encouraged to “delete” the post by several.
Jenner’s vocal opposition to Simpson dates back decades, all the way to the infamous “trial of the century”.
Jenner’s ex-wife Kris Jenner was at the time married to lawyer Robert Kardashian who was part of the Juice’s legal team during a double murder trial for Simpson’s wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.
Kardashian’s then-wife fought for justice for her friend Brown Simpson at the time, which caused a split within the household as the late lawyer continued to defend Simpson in court.
Former Olympian Jenner eventually married the KUWTK star and sided against Simpson.
In the years since Simpson’s acquittal, Jenner has publicly stated her belief that Simpson “got away” with the murders of Goldman and Brown Simpson.
In a 2009 episode of US talk show Dr Phil, Jenner divulged: “I remember the day the verdict came through and [the children] came in and they said, ‘I told you he didn’t do it.'”
We sat down and I said, ‘Look, just because he got a not guilty verdict doesn’t mean he didn’t do it, and I just don’t want to hear his name anymore.’
“I had a lot of conversations with Robert to try to make sure it didn’t tear the family apart.”

During an appearance on the Australian version of Big Brother, Jenner reaffirmed her stance on the trial.
Jenner said Simpson “obviously” committed the murders during her appearance on the reality show in 2021.
A later civil trial for the wrongful deaths of Goldman and Brown found Simpson liable in 1997, which meant he was ordered to pay upwards of $33 million (then £21 million) in damages.
However, he struggled to hand over the money throughout the rest of his life.
In 2008, Simpson was found guilty by a Las Vegas jury on charges including kidnapping and armed robbery for an incident at a casino hotel in 2007 in which Simpson and five men – at least two of whom were carrying guns – stole a collection of sports memorabilia worth thousands of dollars from a pair of dealers.
