Britons warned of delays on Jet2 flights travelling through French airspace

Jet2 has issued a warning to Britons travelling over French airspace from December 4 to December 6, after industrial strike action is scheduled to take place.

The airline insists that people flying with them check for updates regularly before their flight.


Jet2 released a statement online which read: “We wanted to let you know that industrial strike action is taking place from 18:00 GMT on Wednesday, December 4 until 05:00 GMT on Friday, December 6, supported by the Air Traffic Service in France.

“Whilst we are unsure of any disruption this may cause there is a possibility of disruption to flights that are due to operate within French airspace.”

The airline said that their planes had to be ready for the exact time of their departure with the strike action happening in France and urged customers to arrive on time and prepared.

It wrote: “For us to achieve departures as close to our published schedules, it is necessary for us to close our check-in desks and board flights in line with your flight’s scheduled departure time.

“Check-in will close 40 minutes before your scheduled departure, and we will board your flight on time in order to get you on your way as quickly as possible.

“This way, we are in a position for an immediate departure when required.”

Jet2 laid out instructions for fliers to follow, to give the best possible opportunity to avoid delays.

It advised: “Please check [your flight details] at least 12 hours before your flight for the latest flight information.

“We recommend arriving at the airport at least two hours before your scheduled departure time. Please remember – check-in desks close 40 minutes before this.”

The airline apologised in advance to customers for the potential delays however insisted that it would have customers on their way as soon as possible.

The airline said: “We apologise in advance if this results in prolonged waiting times onboard the aircraft whilst waiting for clearance to depart.

“Our dedicated operations teams are working hard behind the scenes at our UK-based HQ to ensure that any disruption is kept to a minimum. We’ll have you on your way as soon as we can.”

Jet2 are not the only airline that announced delays this week.

Ryanair issued a travel warning for Britons going to and departing from a UK airport.
