Dubai is a popular destination for British tourists looking to soak up the sun and enjoy world-class shopping, delicious cuisine, and spectacular views.

However, recent hazardous weather means that Britons have been warned against visiting the touristy city for the time being.

Hailstones, thunderstorms and heavy rainfall resulting in floods have hit the UAE in recent days.

Unstable weather continues to affect the country, with the National Centre of Meteorology citing low surface pressure.

Flash floods have killed 20 people in the Gulf states, and while no deaths have been reported in Dubai, the country’s airports have issued a warning to travellers.

Dubai Airports said: “Due to the unprecedented weather conditions in the UAE, Dubai International (DXB) is experiencing significant disruption.

“It’s challenging for departing guests to reach the airport and arrival guests to leave the terminals due to the significant flooding and road blockages, resulting in limited available transport options.

“We’re continuously working hard with our emergency response teams and service partners to restore normal operations as quickly as possible and provide support for guests.

“Flights are delayed and some diverted with many airlines impacted by displaced crew.

“Recovery will take some time. Dubai Airport thanks its guests for their patience and understanding while it works through these operational challenges.

“We strongly urge guests to check directly with their airline to obtain the latest information on the status of their flight before coming to the airport and allow significant extra travel time.

“We’re experiencing a technical issue with our phone lines. While we work hard to rectify this, you may reach us through the below channels WhatsApp us at +971 4 2245555 Chat with us on our website: https://dubaiairports.ae/ DM us at @DXB on X, Instagram, or Facebook.”

Dubai International Airport posted on X: “We advise you NOT to come to the airport, unless absolutely necessary.

“Flights continue to be delayed and diverted. Please check your flight status directly with your airline. We are working hard to recover operations as quickly as possible in very challenging conditions.”
