Britons looking for a quieter staycation this summer may find solace in the Isles of Scilly, away from the tourism boltholes.

Situated off the southwest of England, the archipelago has been likened to the Caribbean with its crystal blue waters.

According to visitors, the Isles are the perfect spot to relish simple pleasures like meditative walks along the beach.

The travel website Visit Isles of Scilly, adds: “The Isles of Scilly lie just off the coast of Cornwall but are a world apart in every way.

“A natural wonder, like a cluster of precious ocean jewels, where nature thrives and the soul is inspired.

“Everything looks and feels quite different on Scilly – simpler, kinder, more innocent – life moves at an easier pace.

“So with the space and freedom to do everything or nothing – our enchanting archipelago guarantees a magical, unforgettable experience.”

One trip advisor review claims the “truly idyllic” archipelago offers a “quiet” life against a backdrop of “Caribbean-coloured sea, white sandy beaches and tropical flowers”.

Inviting waters off the Cornish coast beckon hundreds of sea swimmers during summer, with temperatures climbing up to 17.2C in July.

Off-season, the island’s unique location means it occasionally sees heavy fog and blustery conditions.

To avoid the rain, travel enthusiasts at Sibleys on Scilly recommend visiting between May and September.

Some Trip Advisor reviews warn that food and transportation are expensive, given that everything is imported onto the island.

Trains from London Paddington to Penzance take an average travel time of five hours and 28 minutes.

One of the quickest ways to reach the islands is by plane, with Skybus offering efficient travel options to visitors.

The Isles of Scilly offers a wide range of self-catering accommodations, bed and breakfasts and hotels.

Many options offer sweeping views of the ocean, but visitors must book well in advance to avoid extortionate fees.
