Left-leaning ITV viewers have taken to social media in their droves to slam housemate Kerry over her political views.

The 40-year-old NHS worker joined fellow housemates Zac, Olivia, Jenkin and Henry on the sofas during Sunday’s episode where they discussed politics and the cost of living crisis.

Henry, who told viewers he was a self-admitted Tory voter in his opening video package, said to the group: “I love Boris [Johnson]. At least he’s funny.”

At this point, Kerry weighed in to share her views as she admitted: “Yeah, but I don’t want someone funny running our country.

“Since I could vote, I’ve voted Conservative, but Boris made me lose faith in their party.

“I thought to myself, ‘You’re a fool, you’re gonna stop me from following a party that I’ve believed in.’ I believe their manifesto.

“Rishi [Sunak] is probably, in my opinion, the best of a bad bunch at the moment.”

The NHS worker went on to defend MPs’ salaries as they’re “not paid that much” when Zak weighed in to criticise their pay cheques.

Kerry then commented on her dislike at the amount of tax high earners have to pay before Zak soon weighed in to take aim at the government over the average wage in the UK.

He slammed: “The average person in the UK makes £20,000 per year. If you’ve got £100k, you’re in the richest in the UK.”

This prompted Jenkin to reveal he received “£250 a month” when he was on benefits in between jobs which resulted in a gobsmacked reaction from Kerry.

After she admitted she was “shocked” she continued: “I really need to stop moaning paying a higher tax bracket… (but) I don’t think it’s fair.

“I’m really proud of myself because it’s really hard in the NHS, but I begrudge paying the higher tax bracket massively.”

It didn’t take long for disgruntled ITV viewers to slam Kerry’s input, with one typing on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Really dislike Kerry like imagine working for the NHS and supporting the Conservatives #BBUK.”

“Always knew there was something off about kerry and surprise surprise she’s a tory #BigBrotherUK #BBUK,” a second fumed while a third hit out: “Ahh ffs so disappointing that the disabled NHS worker is a bloody tory & moaning about being in the higher tax bracket – get her out & in the bin!! #BigBrotherUK #bbuk #kerry #tory.”

A fourth simply put: “Catching up on last nights #BBUK Kerry is a Tory. Get her out!!!”

While a fifth echoed: “Wish I’d voted Kerry now I’ve found out shes a raging tory who cries about being in the higher tax bracket because its ‘not fair’ #bbuk.”

Despite the outpouring of disdain from ITV2 viewers, a number were also quick to point out the hypocrisy of those who often brand themselves as “tolerant” unleashing such fury over one housemate’s stance.

Even one fan, who wasn’t Kerry’s biggest fan, pointed out: “Mad to me that the same ppl who are tweeting that Kerry needs evicting for being a Tory (which she does) are constantly tweeting about how funny Henry and Jordan are…

“Like babes sorry to tell you this they are actually massive tories as well #bbuk.”

While a second blasted the “woke” discussions: “I would be fine with all these politics, Gender and Race topics being pushed on us if there was some entertainment to lighten the mood but it seems like they are trying to fit in as many woke topics as possible and the show is suffering because of it. #BBUK.” (sic)

It’s not the first time Big Brother has come under fire since the reboot launched on ITV earlier this month.

Not only has the series been criticised by a number of viewers for going “woke”including by GB News’ very own Nana Akua – but other conversations among the housemates have resulted in “bullying” and “ableism” storms.
