Biden, who attended the event with his wife Jill, seemed disoriented and agitated upon his arrival. At one point, he even shuffled toward an empty chair, pointing at it in a manner some likened to a child’s behavior.
The ceremony, which was streamed live, took an unexpected turn after French President Emmanuel Macron, who also attended with his wife Brigitte, shook Biden’s hand. Viewers noted that Biden was bending his knees and leaning forward at that time, while others remained standing. The unusual posture persisted for a noticeable period of time. Biden’s speech also took an unexpected turn as he referenced the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, highlighting the deaths of Russians and drawing a contentious comparison between former President Donald Trump and Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. This deviation from the commemoration of D-Day veterans drew mixed reactions, with some criticizing the president for straying off-topic on such a significant occasion.

“Is there ever a time when Americans realize just how much of an embarrassment this is on a world stage? Does this kind of incompetence and weakness encourage our enemies to act the way they’ve been acting? Of course it does!” Donald Trump Jr., son of Biden’s chief rival, wrote on X.
Democrats remain in denial about Biden’s cognitive decline
In a viral video in September, he stumbled on the steps of Air Force One in Michigan despite measures to prevent falls, such as wearing tennis shoes and using a shorter stairway. That same month, he falsely claimed to have visited Ground Zero the day after the 9/11 attacks and was cut off mid-sentence by the White House Press Secretary during a press conference.
Biden also left a Medal of Honor ceremony prematurely on Sept. 5 due to supposed precautions over the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19). In August, he incorrectly stated that he had declared climate change a national emergency.
Previous missteps include tripping on Air Force One steps in July, walking off an MSNBC set in June, confusing Iraq with Ukraine, misidentifying Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the leader of China, making a puzzling reference to royalty and proposing an implausible ocean-spanning railroad.
He also misstated the number of his granddaughters, referred to the South Korean president by the wrong name, erroneously claimed his son died in Iraq and announced a major press conference that was actually a pre-taped interview. He also misnamed the New Zealand rugby team, confusing it with a historical British military group.
Biden also lost his temper with reporters, such as calling a New York Post reporter’s bribery question “dumb” in June and referring to Fox News reporter Pete Doocy as a “stupid son of a b—-” in January 2022.
As clearly shown in different polls, the long list of proof of his cognitive decline has been affecting his re-election bid over the past few months. But Democrats remain in denial about the true state of Biden’s physical and mental health.
