Spring is fast approaching and many Britons will be keen to welcome in the warm weather with a fabulous UK trip.

A travel expert told GB News that Britons should head to the North York Moors, located in north-eastern Yorkshire.

Travel expert and creator of The Family Cruise Companion Elaine Warren, said: “I’d recommend exploring the North York Moors this spring if you’re looking for a scenic staycation spot in the UK.

“A while back, my family and I spent a long weekend in the area hiking and enjoying the natural beauty.”

It’s the perfect destination for those who enjoy a scenic wander. She said: “The wide open moorland scenery dotted with little stone villages is just breathtaking.

“On clear days, you feel like you can see forever across the purple heather-covered hills.

“We packed a lot into our short trip – one memorable day included a hike along the coastal cliffs near Robin Hood’s Bay, where we spotted seals playing in the surf below.”

Robin Hood’s Bay is an idyllic fishing village and is home to some great attractions. Visit the Robin Hood’s Bay and Fylingdales Museum, then head to Robin Hood’s Bay Beach.

For those who want to incorporate a spot of exercise into their staycation, Along the Coast at Robin Hood’s Bay is a great hiking trail.

Elaine continued: “Another day we had fun exploring the ruined Rievaulx Abbey, taking in 1,000 years of history.”

Visitors should also check out the North York Moors National Park, whether it’s for a general meander or one of its many festivals or events.

A trip to the North York Moors can certainly be done on a budget, according to the travel expert. There’s also a little something for everyone, catering to all kinds of staycation needs.

The expert said: “There are plenty of options when it comes to places to stay, from cozy bed and breakfasts to small hotels.

“We opted for a farm cottage rental which was very reasonably priced, especially for a larger family. It had everything we needed to make meals and feel at home.

“Dining options are also affordable – we really liked grabbing fish and chips from local shops in Pickering to picnic on the moors.”

Another travel expert spoke to GB News about an ‘unbeatable’ UK destination with a ‘magical serenity’.
