While international travel is very popular, with many Britons keen to explore other cultures, staycations are also favourable.
Holidaying in the UK took off during the pandemic when air travel was swiftly ground to a halt, but a lot of people have kept up this tradition for cost-effectiveness and ease.
Travel expert and founder of Taiwan Obsessed and general travel enthusiast Nick Kembel (who has backpacked through over 50 countries), spoke exclusively to GB News about his top three recommendations for UK staycations.
He provided something for nature lovers, seaside fans and those who are keen on big cities too.

Scottish Highlands
Nick recommended that nature lovers travel very far north for some gorgeous sights.
He said: “For me, the remote wilderness of the Scottish Highlands is unbeatable for a peaceful escape.
“Waking up to golden light on craggy peaks and breathing in the crisp air is still a very deeply engraved memory in my heart and mind, something I’ll simply never forget.
“Hiking the empty trails and discovering secluded lochs provides a magical serenity. The landscape has a rugged beauty that always re-energizes my spirit. Before the crowds arrive, it’s a special chance to experience the Highlands’ wild charm.”
One stunning attraction in the Scottish Highlands is Eilean Donan Castle. People who have visited describe it as an “incredibly beautiful location”, with an equally “magnificent” car journey to it.
Cornwall
Speaking of beachy Cornwall, the travel expert said: “If you’re seeking vibrant seaside fun, Cornwall is tough to top.
“Recently, my family tried glamping on Newquay’s Lusty Glaze, a gorgeous private beach, and had a blast.
“Our tent came equipped with comfy beds and a kitchen – a perfect home base for adventures.
“During the day, we lounged on soft sand and paddled out into sparkling bays. At night, we bundled up for stunning sunsets and roasted s’mores under the stars. It was an unforgettable experience.”
Kynance Cove is a must-see and is described as “breathtaking” by visitors to the stunning beach.

London
London is perfect for those who are keen to be part of some hustle and bustle. Think great restaurants, lively bars and museums galore, not to mention fabulous theatres. According to Nick, it has something for everyone.
Nick said: “For some culture with your staycation, London in spring has everything from dazzling tulips in Hyde Park to lively street markets to world-famous sights like Big Ben gleaming in the sun.
“I love unwinding at a canal-side café then taking in an exhilarating play at Shakespeare’s Globe as the evenings get warmer. Spring fever hits in all the best ways in the capital.”
Borough Market is one of London’s oldest and largest food markets and is exceptionally lively. Those who have visited call it an “excellent place for food lovers” with an “ incredible” amount of options.
