BBC Father Brown star Tom Chambers, 47, has shared his heartwarming thoughts on series lead Mark Williams, 65, as they prepare for the new series of the long-running cosy crime show.
Chambers plays the fictional Cotswold village of Kembleford’s Chief Inspector Edgar Sullivan alongside the beloved titular Catholic priest, played by Williams.
The 47-year-old has been an on/off star of the show since its second series in 2014 and finally became a mainstay in 2023’s series 10.
Series 11 ended with Sullivan proposing to Mrs Isabel Devine, played by Claudie Blakley, after three series of romance.
“Sullivan’s adoration for Mrs Devine is unbreakable and he thinks she is the perfect soulmate for him,” Chambers explained to the BBC.
His loved-up character mirrors the actors’ own thoughts on the show and his co-stars.

“Father Brown is a magical concoction, it has a recipe that is so loving, caring, considerate,” Chambers began.
Explaining the enduring appeal of the “delightful to watch” show, he adds: “It’s a very warm and gentle murder mystery with stunning locations and it has something about it that really connects with an audience.”
Chambers applauded the show’s “good intentions” and commended the group effort of a “lovely cast, crew, sound and writing team”.
However, the 47-year-old saves his most heartfelt compliments for his co-stars.

Chambers describes Williams, Father Brown himself, as bringing “so many layers of humanity to the role”.
“He (Williams) comes from a background of comedy but he does everything – comedy, drama and sincerity,” he glowed.
Regarding the “incredible” actress behind his onscreen love interest who he calls “Claudie,” Chambers celebrates her“wonderful energy”.
“Good old John Burton,” Chambers began as he thought warmly about the actor who has portrayed Sergeant Goodfellow since series five.
Chambers called the “steadfast and reliable” 57-year-old actor “a ray of sunshine,” on set.
He describes relative newcomer Ruby-May Martinwood, who plays Brenda Palmer, as “young and vibrant”.
