Barry Manilow has sparked excitement among his British fanbase after announcing he’ll be returning for a string of shows next year.

The 80-year-old will perform for nine nights at the London Palladium at the end of May and into the beginning of June in 2024.

He’ll also kick off his return to the UK with a one-off show at the Manchester Co-op Live arena on May 19 before heading to the capital.

Announcing the news, Manilow explained exactly why he chose the Palladium to be the venue for his final string of dates this side of the Atlantic.

Revealing it’s been 45 years since he first performed there, Manilow penned on X, formerly known as Twitter: “In 1978, The London Palladium is where I began my love affair with the British public.

“These shows will be my last full concerts in Britain and I wanted to end where I began – at the London Palladium.”

It didn’t take long for fans of the Copacabana singer to share their excitement at the prospect of seeing Manilow perform live in the UK, even if it’s for the final time.

One fan replied on X: “Thankyou from the bottom of my heart for all the beautiful memories we have had Barry.

“I’ve been there from the beginning and will be there to the end the UK love you and will miss you love and hugs from me to you see you next year take care.”

A second added: “What an amazing life and career you have had in between! A life well lived. I’m so very happy for you.”

Over on Instagram, another fan shared: “It’s where I first saw him, so will be emotional for me and lots of others xx.”

And a fourth added: “Thank you for everything @barrymanilowofficial, I hope you know what you mean to us in the UK and how your music has helped people, the world over, cope with trials and tribulations in our lives.

“You have been the soundtrack to so many lives. Once again, thank you! See you in Manchester & hopefully London,” they added. (sic)

The singer’s London residency is fresh off the back of his record-breaking stint on the Las Vegas stage.

Manilow beat Elvis Presley’s record for the longest-running show in Vegas after he marked his 637th show at Westgate in September.

Not content with the record, Manilow will return to Vegas for another residency in February 2024 before jetting over to England.
