McFly star Danny Jones has finally released a statement following his Brits kiss with Maura Higgins.
The singer sparked a media storm when footage circulated on social media appearing to show the married musician getting close with the former Love Island star.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, March 14, Jones, finally addressed and admitted to the controversy.
He wrote: “Hello everyone. Sorry it’s taken me a while to post this but I’ve taken some time out to be with those closest to me.
“I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation”.
He continued: “I love them so much and we’ll continue to deal with this privately.
“I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding and spupport.”
He signed off the brief message: “See you all soon, Danny”.
Following the star-studded event on March 1, a moment captured at the afterparty appeared to show the two kissing despite Jones having been married to Georgia Horsley since 2014.
The 39-year-old met Higgins, 34, during last year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, which Jones went on to win.
When reports first surfaced, one onlooker recalled: “Danny and Maura seemed to be having a great time. They looked like they had a brief drunken kiss.”
“Danny and Maura seem to have a close friendship after meeting in the jungle. They were talking and laughing for ages,” they continued, The Sun reports.
Earlier this week, sources suggested Jones and Horsley were taking a “break” from their relationship.
News of their reported “break” comes after the pair were spotted having coffee together in London on Tuesday, marking their first public appearance since the scandal broke.
Despite Jones and Horsley’s recent meet up, sources close to the couple claimed to the Daily Star that the latter needs “time to process what has happened” and “only then can she begin to talk about the future.”
It was to the Daily Star that the pal close to the family claimed the duo are “on a break” amid the ordeal.
The couple – who have been married since 2014 and share a seven-year-old son, Cooper – were seen clutching takeaway hot drinks while walking in a park, appearing tense as they conversed.
