GB News star Andrew Pierce has hit out at Gary Lineker in a scathing rant as the BBC presenter faces accusations of breaking the broadcaster’s guidelines again.

The Match of the Day star wore his own range of Next menswear during coverage of England’s Euro 2024 clash against Serbia.

By doing so, Lineker appeared to have breached BBC guidelines that ban anyone from appearing on TV wearing items they are paid to promote.

Speaking on GB News, Andrew hit out at Lineker, claiming he is afforded special treatment by the Beeb.

“He’s a shocker, Lineker, rules don’t apply to him”, he said.

“He’s wearing stuff that he’s been paid to promote. It’s an outrage. He drives a coach and horses through guidelines.

“He’s effectively giving an endorsement worldwide.”

Andrew’s co-host, Bev Turner, said Lineker may argue that his look did not prominently boast the Next brand name and he is “just wearing a green T-shirt”.

She added: “He would say there is no logo on there, so it doesn’t matter.”

Bev then suggested Andrew was being “harsh” as he continued to tear into the highest-paid BBC presenter.

Andrew added: “He just takes the mick out of us. Good on Nigel Farage and his Reform manifesto, pledging to get rid of the BBC licence fee.”

The BBC guidelines read: “Presenters or other individuals must not appear on-air wearing clothing or using products or services which they have agreed/been contracted to promote, advertise or endorse or in which they have a specific financial interest.”

The ex-England striker has flouted BBC clothing guidelines in the past.

During the 2018 World Cup, he took to Instagram to promote a TM Lewin shirt he wore on TV.

He tagged the clothing brand in the post and wrote: “Another day, another game.”

The BBC have previously railed against Lineker, the most famous incident coming about last year when the broadcaster opted to take him off air.

The pundit had responded to a Twitter video put up by former Home Secretary Suella Braverman where she unveiled plans to stop migrant boats crossing the Channel.

His comment sparked an impartiality row, prompting the BBC to announce that he would ‘step back’ from presenting Match of the Day until a decision on his position had been made.

It prompted widespread acts of solidarity with many BBC figures announcing they would also step down in a show of support for their colleague.
