American Airlines flights GROUNDED after major ‘technical issue’

Earlier, the airline shared a statement online, which read: “An estimated timeframe has not been provided, but they’re trying to fix it in the shortest possible time.”

Additionally, the Federal Aviation Agency has flagged that American Airlines was reporting “a technical issue and has requested a nationwide ground stop”.

As a result, passengers across the country are stranded on one of the busiest times of year to travel.

The airline said: “We’re currently experiencing a technical issue with all American Airlines flights.

“Your safety is our utmost priority, once this is rectified, we’ll have you safely on your way to your destination.

“Our team is working to get this rectified so that you can be safely on your way to your family. Your continued patience is appreciated.”

Today’s incident has taken place mere months after all of the airline’s flights were grounded.

This outage – which affected a number of airlines on July 19 – occurred as a result of an international IT crash which was caused by a software update from cybersecurity organisation Crowdstrike.

After today’s technical error, the issue has now been resolved as passengers have started to announce that they are beginning to board planes.

“A vendor technology issue briefly affected flights this morning,” the airline announced.

“That issue has been resolved and flights have resumed. We sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience this morning.

“It’s all hands on deck as our team is working diligently to get customers where they need to go as quickly as possible.”

Videos have shown that, in a Miami airport, the resolved issue was applauded by the airline’s passengers.

Current delays have shown flights to have been postponed by about an hour.
