According to Modernity News, Germany relies on mass migration to support its gross domestic product levels and fund pensions. But instead of pensioners, Berlin gives more money to foreigners instead of native German pensioners. The country gave a record €42.6 billion ($46.39 billion) in “citizens’ money” in 2023 – up from €36.6 billion ($39.85 billion) in 2022.
This €42.6 billion ($46.39 billion) reportedly goes to the pockets of 5.49 million Germans in the form of citizen’s allowance. Of this number, 2.6 million migrants – 47.3 percent – also receive welfare. This number is 16.5 percent higher than the previous year’s numbers, translating to 368,000 new migrants being added to the recipients list.
The surge in welfare costs has been accompanied by a rise in administrative expenses totaling €6.3 billion ($6.9 billion) in 2023, which is €300 million ($327 million) more than the previous year. With these administrative expenses included, the total welfare expenditure reached €48.9 billion ($53.2 billion), marking a 14.8 percent increase from 2022, 18.4 percent higher compared to 2020, and 23 percent higher than in 2015. Lawmaker Rene Springer of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party obtained the figures through a parliamentary request. This drew criticism from the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK), the country’s biggest business association. The DIHK accused the left-liberal government in Berlin of creating problems that undermine Germany’s fiscal stability and worsen unemployment.

According to a statement by the AfD, the percentage of non-German benefit recipients has more than doubled since 2010 – excluding German citizens with a migration background. It ultimately concluded: “Which country in the world allows itself to be exploited in this manner?”
Berlin still supports migrants, even if they cause more harm than good
“The data pokes a major hole in the claims that newcomers will help pay for German pensions and help fill demand from German industry, which is desperately searching for skilled workers,” writes John Cody of Remix News. “In fact, the data shows that the German state spent €48.2 billion ($52.9 billion) on migrants, including social housing, medical costs, education, integration courses and other expenses.”
Meanwhile, economic expert Jens Spahn said the citizen’s allowance is constantly setting negative records for hindering jobs and spiking costs, adding: “A large majority of Germans find it completely unfair.” He stressed that the current welfare system disincentivized employment and weakens the economy, ultimately calling for its abolition.
Numbers from the Federal Criminal Police Office showed that out of 190,605 suspects of violent crimes nationwide, 111,517 are foreigners without a German passport – accounting for 58.5 percent of such offenses. The number of non-German suspects in violent crimes has increased by 14.5 percent over the past year.
Moreover, foreign migrants are significantly represented in theft-related crimes, comprising 187,000 of the 424,000 suspected thieves. Excluding immigration offenses, the total number of non-Germans suspected of any crime rose by 17.8 percent in 2023, amounting to 923,269 suspects – nearly half of the 2.25 million total suspected criminals last year. These figures do not include migrants who have since acquired German citizenship or those with a foreign migration background through one parent.
