Adele has faced yet another barrage of backlash from social media users after she finally gave an explanation over the viral courtside meme of her from an NBA All-Stars game two years ago.
Back in 2022, Adele and boyfriend Rich Paul attended an All-Stars game where they were sat courtside – meaning they were going to be front and center.
As the cameras panned to the Go Easy On Me singer, she looked bored and uninterested in the game and was soon a viral meme being circulated on social media.
Over the last two years, the British singer has refused to discuss the topic but recently admitted that she was in a bad mood – and it was down to her “naturally miserable” face.
During her Las Vegas residency show last Saturday evening, the 35-year-old admitted she was intentionally ignoring the cameras in that game after becoming “very annoyed”.
She told her Weekends with Adele audience: “Do you remember that viral meme of me looking like I don’t give a flying f**k?

“I’d like to give some context about that meme. I know it sounds crazy, but I really don’t like being famous, right? So obviously, I know I’m sitting courtside at a basketball game, you’re asking for it. Whatever.
“Rich was working the room and, you know, talking to other players and people. I was fine, I didn’t mind. I was just there on my own, looking for Michael Jordan, to be honest with you,” she teased.
Adele continued that the camera crew approached her twice as to whether they could film her and put the footage up on the screen for the fans to see.
She admitted: “I said ‘Please don’t. I just cancelled my Vegas residency. I really don’t wanna be on camera’. They came back and they filmed me.”

The singer also addressed some of the fan comments about her suggesting she had some work done but quickly put an end to the speculation and admitted she was just pouting over the situation.
“The reason my lips looked like I had filler [is because] I have naturally big lips. The reason I looked different was because I was sulking. I was just annoyed because I asked not to be filmed.”
Despite the simple explanation, many fans took to their X accounts to express their annoyance as one said: “I don’t like being famous’ But you like the money and perks. Suck it up or go sing in your church choir. For free.”
“Adele hates being famous and she’s not afraid to show it,” another stated before a third added: “There’s always someone to blame.”

One user wasn’t having any of it and simply branded her a “liar”, before another noted: “I’m sorry, but if you’re a celeb going to an All-Star game there’s a good chance it’s going to get taken advantage of.” (sic)
The continued backlash comes after she reportedly stands to make $2million every time she takes to the stage during her Las Vegas residency – a source told The Post.
After the 60-show deal comes to an end, she is guaranteed to rake in $105million but is still charging €700 (£598) if fans want to be front row of her Open Air Arena in Munich, Messe tour.
For those not lucky enough to get the front row, they will still have to fork out €250 (£214) to sit in the tiered seating which is a way away from the stage.
